Research - OK to Ask

Sunny Meed has been an accredited Research Ready Surgery site by the Royal College of General Practitioners (having demonstrated 5 core competencies, the necessary up to date knowledge of research standards and the physical facilities required to successfully comply with demands based on the latest research governance frameworks).

You may be asked to consider participation within reseach studies at the practice in the future. This helps to support knowledge and understanding of modern health treatments. However, there is no obligation for you to take part in research and if you choose not to you can be assured of receiving our normal high standard of care.

We are not currently taking on new research studies at the moment but encourage all patients interested in taking part in clinical trials to ask and we support the campaign 'OK to ASK'....

The practice has been an active Primary Care Research site, working together with the CRN (Clinical Research Network)  and have recruited to a number of studies over recent years covering:

- Weight loss (WRAP)

- Diabetes (HeLP)

- Vitamin D (VIDAL)

- Helicobacter (HEAT)

If you are interested in taking part in local studies please enquire at reception or email and, although we are not planning on taking on new studies in the forseeable future, Dr Sara Gil Rivas as Research Lead could signpost you to other research sites.
